I loved space when I was a kid. I dreamed of becoming an astrophysicist and discovering new things about our incredible universe. Then I grew up and got busy on this little planet.
Until last week, something inspired me to explaining the solar system to Olivia. We laid out 10 tiny balls of crumpled up toilet paper on the bathroom floor. We talked about the sun and the order of the planets (and the dwarf planet).
The next morning I showed her pictures of the planets. She agreed that Saturn is the best (after Earth, of course). And we took a little trip to Michael's to get a little solar system project to hang up in her room.
It was fun watching her light up, catching a glimpse of how amazing this life is. And to rekindle my own inner child.
We need to wake that up a bit more often.
